Job summary
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our dynamic pharmacy team and train to become a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
This cross-sector rotational programme includes placements with London Ambulance Service NHS Trust and our training partner, Barts Health NHS Trust, at St Bartholomews Hospital.
The successful candidate will be enrolled on a two-year apprenticeship programme starting March 2027 and supported to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to qualify and register as a pharmacy technician.
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of five GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, at grade C/4 or above.
- Include English Language, Mathematics and Science among those qualifications, together with two other GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
- Meet the eligibility criteria for a UK apprenticeship. (Any eligible visa's must cover the dates of the whole period of the apprenticeship programme).
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
- To undertake the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians Qualification.
- Work on a rotational basis, gaining competencies and experience as defined by the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians Qualification. A practice/clinical supervisor will beallocatedfor each rotation andoverallthe education supervisor will manage the training programme.
Under the supervision of a PharmacyTechnicianyou will:
- Agreeing learning objectives, collecting evidence and being assessed by an assessor or expert witness in each rotation in line with the training plan
- Attending college once a week and taking responsibility for developing the knowledge and skills needed to become competent in the role
- Collecting evidence and preparing for assessments during allocated work time
- Undertaking a wide range of rotational duties, including dispensing for inpatients and outpatients; supplying medicines to wards and departments; procuring and receiving stock from suppliers; maintaining stock; and supporting medicines optimisation
All duties will be undertaken under the supervision of an appropriately registered pharmacy professional and in accordance with local standard operating procedures

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pharmacy Team at London Ambulance Service NHS Trust and play a leading role in delivering a portfolio of strategic pharmacy programmes and transformation initiatives that support safe, effective and high-quality patient care.
The Programme Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of complex pharmacy programmes and projects, ensuring successful delivery against agreed objectives, timescales, budgets and quality standards. The post holder will work closely with the Chief Pharmacist, pharmacy leadership team, operational colleagues, clinical services, corporate departments, NHS partners and external suppliers to deliver transformation and continuous improvement across medicines management services.
The role will focus on delivering programmes that enhance patient safety, strengthen medicines governance, improve operational efficiency and support innovation across the Trust. This may include digital transformation initiatives, controlled drugs governance developments, medicines supply chain improvements, service redesign and implementation of national and local strategic priorities.
The successful candidate will provide expert programme management support across a diverse portfolio of work and ensure alignment with the Trust's strategic objectives, pharmacy strategy and wider NHS priorities.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity to utilise programme and project management expertise to deliver transformational change. Working closely with the Chief Pharmacist and senior pharmacy leadership team, you will lead the delivery of a portfolio of pharmacy programmes and projects from initiation through to implementation, embedding robust governance, risk management and benefits realisation throughout the programme lifecycle.
