Job summary
We have an opportunity for a qualified Health Care Assistant to join our team at Wensum Valley Medical Practice. This position is offered at 21 hours per week on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an experienced individual to work collaboratively with the entire practice team, supporting the delivery of care for the practice population. The successful applicant must be qualified and ideally have experience of working in General Practice. They will join a team consisting of a Lead Practice Nurse, Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Associate, and GP Assistants.
The team at Wensum Valley Medical Practice are friendly and supportive, and we work collaboratively to ensure patients receive appropriate and timely care. You will be supporting the practice to meet it's clinical, preventative healthcare and quality requirements.
We are a training practice and work across three surgery sites in Norwich. We have been providing care to the people of Norwich for many years and have a strong focus on patient care. We are passionate about training and supporting our staff
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the Practice's clinical team, supporting GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and other healthcare professionals in the delivery of high-quality, safe and patient-centred care.
The postholder will undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties within their level of competence and training, helping to ensure patients receive appropriate and timely care and supporting the Practice to meet its clinical, preventative healthcare and quality requirements.

We have three GP partners and a young multidisciplinary team including salaried GPs, long term locums, Nurse Practitioners, Lead Nurse, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, Care Coordinator, GP Assistants, Mental Health Practitioners and Social Prescribing Link workers. The clinical team is supported by an excellent administrative team with experienced managers. Team spirit is strong as is the commitment to great patient care.
We enjoy excellent working relationships with neighbouring practices, working collaboratively as part of the West Norwich Primary Care Network.

- Recording pulse, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation.
- Measuring height, weight and calculating BMI.
- Performing urinalysis.
- Carrying out routine blood tests/phlebotomy where appropriately trained and assessed as competent.
